Comprehensive Didactic Curriculum

The didactic program is carefully structured to complement clinical training and ensure residents are exposed to every aspect of internal medicine and patient care. Our eighteen-month rotating curriculum is designed to expose residents to core material twice, strengthening retention and building advanced competency in both primary and subspecialty care.

Grand Rounds are monthly conferences that emphasize cutting-edge medical science within our own institution as well as by nationally-recognized leaders in medical research and education.

Residents will receive Core Internal Medicine didactics weekly which will cover the various clinical specialties of Internal Medicine.

Didactics focused on healthcare administration and cost-effective practice management.

Didactic sessions focused on core topics such as patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement.

Residents will present a one-hour review of relevant scientific literature as it applies to patient care.

One-hour session held to discuss medical errors or near-misses in an environment that facilitates learning, encourages accountability, and promotes quality improvement and academic development.

Case-based conferences in which residents and attendings interact and discuss patient care, thereby allowing learners to develop their medical knowledge, diagnostic skills, treatment plan formation and patient-care competency.

Monthly conferences held to educate residents on the foundational knowledge necessary to provide value-based, ethical patient-centered care.

Semi-annual conference held to have residents and hospital staff participate in root cause analyses for significant patient safety events.
